I remain outraged over Bush's veto of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and the failure of House Republicans to join with most Democrats and many Republicans to override the veto. But to discover that my own representative here in Mississippi, Gene Taylor, a Democrat, voted against SCHIP was simply too much. He was one of only two Democrats in the House to join Bush in opposing health care for children from working families. What was he thinking?
I am going to follow this one until I get a clear sense of Taylor's rationale. Here is what I've gathered so far from the Clarion-Ledger:
Truly unbelievable. He's putting smokers above health care for the children of working Mississippians. I hope Rep. Taylor hears from more of his constituents than just me on this one.

Wow, that's just plain dispicable. Too bad the left in Mississippi doesn't have the money to pay for 'infomercials'. That would kill his image.
I have to question the nature of what you write here. Are you studying the consquences of the US Republican political party, or republicanism? To call the actions of the GOP anything of a shade of "republicanism" is madness.
I find that our President agrees with me less as time goes on, and find term limits refreshing. If only we extended such grace to members of our Congress. I would that we had more Cincinnatii's to return to the plow. However, I find the president oddly right on this. Central planning can never consider all its consequences.
For example, raising a tax to fund such a program could quite possibly reduce the income of some who now barely pay for their own healthcare to a level where they would be unable to. This is simply one example of the evils of central planning and its expansion.
I, for one, am outraged that you would support such a measure. How do you defend yourself?
He voted it for the second time, so your and others' voicing your concerns to him worked!
